Ethiopia: Industrial Parks Generate USD 121.9 Million from Export Trade in 9 Months

The Ethiopian Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) is currently reviewing its performance for the first 9 months of the 2022/2023 fiscal year in Jimma City. During the forum the Corporation reported that it generated USD 121.9 million from foreign trade exports in the past 9 months – USD 34 million short of its plan to get USD 156 million in export revenue.

IPDC has facilitated sustainable market connections for more than 100,000 farmers in Bole Lemi, Debre Birhan, and Jimma Industrial Parks, contributing to import substitution efforts in the last 9 months. It also announced that 36,800 citizens had secured job opportunities in the 11 industrial parks and Dire Dawa Free Trade Zone.

According to IPDC, its successful coordination with universities and agricultural research centers located near the industrial parks has resulted in the creation of sustainable market connections for farmers. This collaboration has also provided farmers with access to high-quality seeds, skills training, and additional advisory services.
